People like to say math is a universal truth,
a truth so simple we teach it to our youth.
1 + 2 = 3
Listen children, listen to me.
One plus two always equals three.
x + 2 = 3
Missing a little information is not a problem,
The answer is clear, no need for a tantrum.
x = (a + b)
Math is not limited to the simple and easy questions though,
There are not always constants to measure as did Leon Foucault.
(a + b) + 2 = 3
We learn the world is full of symbols and structures to know.
We use them decipher power and life like Michel Foucault.
x + y = z
We may think we live life answering many questions.
Only to find we have just been layering abstractions.
Now we are uncertain except for the fact,
that life is not as simple as math.
My advice to you dear reader is to stay on track,
and that caring and kindness will enlighten your path.
